What is Thai Yoga Massage?

Traditional Thai Massage has been passed down through the centuries by Bhuddist monks. It originally came from India wherein lies the connection to yoga.

Practiced medicinally in Thailand today Traditional Thai Massage is used
alongside herbal medicine and spirtiual practices.

Whilst using hands and feet on pressure points, the bodyweight of the masseur is used to assist stretches.

In essence, the client is placed into yoga postures. The masseur seeks to achieve a meditative and concentrated state of mind which should transmit to the client through touch.

The purpose of the practice of Thai Yoga Massage is to bring balance and harmony to the body, mind and spirit of the client and thereby provide healing.

Rob Hampson:

I first came to Thai Yoga Massage six years ago because of a lower back problem that was impinging on my yoga practice. Four sessions later the back issue had disappeared and I had fallen in love with the treatment.

Initially trained in Manchester with Dianne Faulkner F.I.C.H.T., M.A.R. I then travelled to Thailand to strengthen my practice under the tutelage of Dr Yan Prabhas Sangkhawat at the Chakra Massage School in Kho Pa Ngan.

I have worked all over the country at everything from yoga retreats to the holistic corporate sector. I am also a fully qualified Swedish Masseur. Based in Stockport, I have a dedicated Thai treatment room and offer home visits. On Saturdays I work at the Alexandra Worsley homeopathy centre in Bramhall (www.alexandraworsley.com)
